This is the Colorado River as taken from the CRIT (Colorado River Indian Tribes) land in Parker, AZ, which is 35 miles north of Quartzsite.  The land on the other side of the river is California. We discovered this peaceful little spot last November, actually Thanksgiving Day, when we went up to the CRIT Casino for the Turkey buffet.   I never get tired of looking at the mountains, but sometimes I miss the water . This spot is an easy cure for that.  I suspect that now it is Memorial Day weekend, this place might not be so peaceful.

  1. Great composition with the grasses in the foreground, peaceful indeed.

  2. Looks quite serene. Nice composition.

  3. I especially like the balance between the grasses on the left and the earthen berm on the right. Makes for a really nice composition.

  4. Oh Karen! I couldn’t be more embarrassed if you told me my underwear was showing! O.k. the photo is now straight. Funny how I can see it when someone else doesn’t straighten a photo, but I couldn’t see it in this one until you pointed it out. I think when we are emotionally attached to a photo or a place it can affect how objectively we look at it. Thanks for being a good friend and letting me know.

  5. I like the way you framed the shot with the grasses on the left front. The horizon looks a bit tilted to the right – I’d suggest trying to straighten that a bit so it’s not a distraction. Your colors and exposure look good.

  6. Looks very nice and peaceful. I like the depth in the photo.

  7. Probably a zoo tomorrow….but for now so restful and wow, that water is just so blue!

  8. Serene indeed!
